The National Do Not Call Registry

The National Do Not Call Registry is managed by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the Nation's consumer protection agency.

The Federal government created the national registry to make it easier and more efficient for consumers to stop getting telemarketing calls they don't want.

The FTC has created, 'The Telemarketing and Consumer Fraud and Abuse Prevention Act' in direct relation to telemarketers who have used deceptive telemarketing practices or abused the use of Auto Dialer and Predictive Dialer capabilities in their organization.

Now laws are created and made mandatory for businesses to follow regarding the National Do Not Call List.  This has been a great opportunity for consumers to help prevent unwanted telemarketing calls coming into their homes at inopportune times, as well as prevent deceptive telemarketers from scamming consumers.

These new laws regarding the 'National Do Not Call List' have placed a burden on businesses and call centers worldwide, to configure their automated systems to comply with the do not call list registry.  Many existing Auto Dialer and Predictive Dialer systems are completely unable to 'comprehend' what telephone numbers should or should not be dialed.

We at Simple Simon do not condone or promote the use of Auto Dialers and/or Predictive Dialers.  We are however against deceptive or abusive telemarketing practices.

The burden now rests on the businesses relying on the telephone to make their sales, to pay extra charges to both be able to download the 'do not call list' on a monthly basis, as well as hire another business to 'scrub' their existing prospect list or to instill expensive 'plug-ins' or external software programs that will enable them to do it automatically.

Many of these subscription services and software programs can be very expensive and require a monthly fee themselves to be utilized by a business.

Aside from the 'National Do Not Call List', there are other laws instilled which restrict the time of day that a sales call can be made to consumers.

Accidental or intentional sidestepping or breaking the laws that are in place by machine or human, can lead to you or your company being fined up to $11,000.00 for each call made that is listed in the 'National Do Not Call Registry'.  Therefore, utilizing obsolete and outdated Auto Dialers and Predictive Dialers is a high risk and dangerous practice for any business to follow.
