There is a
simple answer to this one as well.
Many VOIP services let
you use your existing telephone, by sending you a special
adapter to plug your telephone into, that then connects to
your Cable or DSL modem or router. The
telephone talks to the adapter, which digitizes your
outgoing audio into digital packets. It then transmits
those packets through your high speed modem connection, to
the target destination. The audio from the other end
goes through the same process to get back to you, in
essence. The digital packets are received by your high
speed modem, routed back to the VOIP phone adapter and then
converted to analog and sent to your telephone. Does
that make sense? So
to put it bluntly, since you can use a regular
telephone with these VOIP adapters and routers, you can use
the ZiPhone II or ZiPhone III USB telephone as well.
The difference between
using a standard telephone and one of our ZiPhones is
tremendous, especially when you use it with our
OneManBand or BigBand software. It doesn't
matter if you have an analog or software based PBX system in
between the ZiPhone and your adapter or not. The end
point of the ZiPhone will allow you to do things with your
ZiPhone USB telephone that cannot be done with any standard
phone. Another
twist on these services
Many of the VOIP telephone services
do NOT use a VOIP adapter for your phone, but instead
require you to use a SoftPhone application on your computer
exclusively. This is both a strong point and weak
point in our software.
The strong point, is that
OneManBand and BigBand are both SIP ready. If your
SoftPhone application that comes with your service from one
of these VOIP providers is standards based, you can
substitute its use for our software instead, giving you the
full control of your contacts and calling that our software
provides. The weak
point, which we do not consider a very weak
point at all, is that if the SoftPhone application that
your VOIP service provider requires you to use, does not
follow SIP standards or is proprietary in its codecs and
encryption algorithms, you will not be able to use our
software to control some aspects of the call. (with the
exception of Skype, that is)
However,
you will still be able to use the proprietary SoftPhone
provided by your VOIP service provider with the ZiPhone II
or ZiPhone III USB telephone, just as you would use a normal
headset to interface the proprietary SoftPhone normally.
This jumps you back to the first
explanation of utilizing virtually
ANY SoftPhone application,
but with a unique addition, in that you can also use a
standard analog telephone line or PBX connection, as well as
any Windows based SoftPhone or voice messenger that uses a
speaker and microphone or headset.
So in essence, we
believe that we have covered all
areas with our OneManBand, BigBand and our
ZiPhone II and ZiPhone III, in integrating with virtually
ANY or
ALL SoftPhones, Voice, and
Video Messengers. While adding extended
capabilities to all of
them.
End
Note:
You do not need to
have a ZiPhone to use
OneManBand
or BigBand.
You do not need to
have a ZiPhone to use the other Voice and Video applications
on the market.
And, as well, you do not need
to have a ZiPhone to use the various VOIP services that are
available across the globe.
But Our Software
Combined with a ZiPhone sure makes ALL of them a LOT better! |
