Patients and doctors sometimes have a difficult time in
agreeing to appointments for routine visits and follow-up

an appointment. The information can be processed by the computer
and printed out on a report that can be reviewed by the office
staff upon returning to the office at the beginning of business
hours on the following day. A more sophisticated system can
be programmed to call patients automatically to remind them
to reschedule for a follow-up appointment, or to prompt them
to indicate how they are doing. A system of this kind can
be especially helpful for clinics, which handle hundreds
of patient each day, and in those cases where individual
patient follow-up is virtually impossible.
